Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, or PCOS, is a very common syndrome that affects one in every four or five women. It is one of the most common endocrine disorders in females wherein the ovaries have multiple cysts, and it is one of the leading causes of sub-fertility. Its cause is still not understood, but there is some evidence that it is a genetic disorder. A young lady aged 26 comes to me with these concerns:
Presenting Conditions and Medical Diagnosis
- Her primary concern was that she was unable to conceive. She had been married for three years but still had no children.
- Doctors find her ovaries with multiple cysts and diagnose her with PCOS. They tell her it’s the cause of her sub-fertility, but they also mention that she could get better by injecting necessary hormones and some medication. My client was not very keen on that. She seemed to be scared of the idea of pregnancy.
Findings through Regression Therapy
Within 10 seconds of inducing her into a state of trance, my client says she has butterflies in her stomach. And within a minute she is gasping on the recliner saying she can’t breathe, she is going to die. I did not have the instrument to supply her with oxygen in my therapy clinic, and I was scared since it was my initial days as a regression therapist and my first encounter with such a severe physical manifestation. However something suddenly struck me and I cupped her nose with my hand saying, “Here is the oxygen. Breathe.” Her gasping settled down a bit, but I could see that she was still going through the experience. As I assured her that she was in safe hands and was not going to die, she relaxed and was able to share what she was seeing during the regression.
The experience of that past life was quite traumatic wherein she is a young woman, who is smothered to death by her mother-in-law. (The butterflies that she felt in her stomach, as she lay in my clinic, was actually the feeling of the baby kicking in her womb in that lifetime.) She struggles to push her mother-in-law away but finally gives up, feeling very sad and miserable for her inability to save her baby. As she dies in that life, her soul lingers over her body and sees the baby still alive in her womb. It is conscious that the baby will also die very soon and is impressed with a feeling of utter helplessness.
Metaphor of the Memory in the Present Life
What triggered this memory in the client’s present life? One day, as she was sitting at home happily, her father comes in looking sad and announces that her cousin had died while delivering her baby. Pregnancy, baby, death – that immediately triggers the memory that the cells of her body have been storing, and which subtly manifests as a fear of creation. This fear of creation in turn manifests as PCOS, where her ovaries are filled with cysts rather than eggs, thus rendering her unable to conceive and procreate.
Condition Post Regression
After one year she reported that she had finally conceived naturally.
